"I'm just cleaning the floor" or: Charming Lviv

"Attention please, it's quite slippy here.", I hear a voice with an American accent telling me. At first, a mop comes into my view, then two legs in jeans trousers and finally the concerned father of the warning is facing me: A tall, blond curly head gives me his hand and introduces himself. He is from New York, but his father is living in Prague at the moment and he himself is cleaning the cheapest youth hostel in town, to save about six euros for a bed. Where he will go next? Who knows!

Not only the freshly renovated "Hotel Sun" in Shevchenko prospekt no. 16 with it's warm, family like atmosphere is inviting - also the historic old town of Lviv that is part of the UNESCO world heritage since 1998 doesn't disappoint it's visitors. After you strengthened yourself with cookies or cake in one of the little corner shops you are ready to get lost in the cobblestoned windy streets of old Lviv. Stroll on the cosy boulevards and avenues and climb the former castle hill to get a marvellous overview of the city. It is like a journey through time!

"It seems like back in the 1950ies", a couple from Zwickau is romanticizing - I meet them in the tramway as the conductor is coming round and sells small scraps of paper that you have to punch in nostalgic mechanic ticket validtors installed on the walls which nearly frazzles the paper.
